I found a new notepad that I really like. It's a pretty thick paper with a smooth finish. The pencil glides along smoothly on it and it seems to hold ink very well. The problem is that it's pretty small - about 4x4 inches. There is no brand name on it but I'm gonna ask the art supply store I bought it at to help me find some of the same paper in a bigger format.

The theme I went with this week was "characters without faces." I think it would have worked better if I'd managed to keep my schedule better. I'm not sure whether or not sticking to a theme slowed down my productivity or not but I really don't feel like doing a theme week again for a good long while.

As for these pictures, I drew the first one up there 13 years ago. The second one is brand new. Judge for yourself how much my style and craft has evolved... or devolved. Opinions may vary.

There are some iffy parts in the new one that I was gonna fix when I inked it (and add a mic stand too), but I seriously need to get some sleep. So that will have to wait. I may do an update later.

Today's the 80th birthday of Steve Ditko, co-creator of Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and many other characters. I don't expect him to be reading this, but I thought I should pay tribute to someone whose creations have entertained so many people for so long. Speedball here is a favorite of mine. I like goofy, fun characters.
